The Book of Everything

logoPast Tour: Tour-Makers presented The Book of Everything in Auckland, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Napier and Hamilton in 2016. If you are interested in this show, please contact Silo Theatre.

Adapted by Richard Tulloch from the novel by Guus Kuijer

Thomas sees things that others don’t - a plague of green frogs, a hailstorm in summer, tropical fish in the canals of Amsterdam. He’s keeping a diary, The Book of Everything, in which he records all that he sees. One day, he writes his greatest wish: “When I grow up, I’m going to be happy”.

It’s 1951, and to escape an unhappy household with a violent father, Thomas creates a magical world where anything is possible - odd encounters with Jesus, befriending the witch next door and falling in love for the very first time. Eventually he learns what it means to be brave.

Beautifully adapted by Richard Tulloch from the novel by Guus Kuijer, The Book of Everything celebrates the limitless power of imagination and of the heart. Mothers, nephews, grandfathers, daughters, cousins, boyfriends, sisters, friends - this is theatre for anyone aged 10 - 110.
